The Appraisal Institute of Canada, founded in 1938, is the national professional institute of real estate appraisers in Canada. The institute awards use of two designations as follows:
AACI (Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute) designates fully accredited membership in the Institute and may be used by the holder in connection with the appraisal of a wide range of property. AACI, P.App (Professional Appraiser) may only be used by a fully accredited (AACI) member and must immediately follow the AACI designation.
CRA (Canadian Residential Appraiser) designates members qualified in the appraisal and valuation of individual undeveloped residential dwelling sites and dwellings containing not more than four self-contained family housing units
